This research provides a comprehensive examination of citation patterns and research productivity among Library and Information Science (LIS) faculty members, with particular emphasis on the Indian academic context. Drawing on a range of empirical studies, including Shaw and Vaughan's foundational work profiling the "typical professor" and recent Indian studies on faculty research performance, this paper analyzes how publication output, citation impact, academic rank, institutional type, and collaboration patterns interact to shape scholarly influence. The study employs scientometric and bibliometric approaches to evaluate research productivity across multiple databases, comparing the coverage of Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar.
