AI is changing how knowledge is created‚ how personal data is used‚ and the nature of digital threats‚ and these changes in India are happening within a legal framework that predates the machine learning boom․ We systematically review the law and its application to AI in India in three inter-connected sectors: intellectual property‚ data protection and information technology (cyber law)․ We employ a structured narrative review methodology by reviewing the indexed peer-reviewed literature in Scopus and Web of Science‚ statutes‚ subordinate legislation‚ case law and policy documents until September 2026․ Indian IP law continues to envision a human author/inventor as a requisite for protection‚ as demonstrated by the Indian Patent Office's rejection of DABUS in 2026․ Training AI on copyrighted materials remains legally uncertain in India․ The interim order in ANI v․ OpenAI and the DPIIT's discussion paper on a hybrid licensing regime are favorable trends․.....
