Descrição

The work of electricians who work in contact with the power electrical system is characterized by the presence of relevant physical and mental demands. Psychosocial risks and work-related stress are among the most challenging issues in occupational safety and health. They have a significant impact on the health of individuals, organizations, and national economies. In structures of great organizational complexity, both technical and social, it is sometimes very difficult to reach a balance point between the needs and objectives of the business and the desirable in terms of acceptance of risks arising from the practice of all this work activity. As a rule, there is a lot of pressure on the deadlines for execution, leading them to reduce the applicability of safety procedures in the daily practice of the activities requested by the hierarchies, and what is identified as more serious is not the reduction of protective measures in the activities, but to consider this practice as a "normality". Thus, the main objective of this paper is to analyze the incidence of perceived job stress and psychological well-being in the face of certain work demands, but also to understand how group cohesion can mitigate the development of perceived job stress, improving psychological well-being following the work demands to which they are subjected. On the other hand, it is of interest to analyze whether there are differences in terms of job stress and psychological well-being in relation to some variables, namely between groups in the same sector, where some are exposed to stressful work and others to "cold" work. In this way, we intend to answer the following research question: "What is the incidence of occupational stress perceived in workers in the electrical sector, namely those who are permanently exposed to live-stress jobs?"
