O presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar a questão da infraestrutura a partir da integração regional realizada na América do Sul, com especial atenção para a IIRSA. Buscou-se determinar o marco cronológico de criação da Iniciativa, examinando-se, ainda, sua conformação institucional, bem como o desenvolvimento dos seus eixos integracionistas, de modo a dar a conhecer os principais aspectos relativos à interrelação entre integração e infraestrutura aplicados à parte sul do continente americano. A apresentação dos eixos de integração visa justamente estabelecer um novo processo de decisão baseado no regionalismo aberto, no diálogo político e na interconexão física, quer seja energética, de transporte ou de telecomunicações. Pretende-se, portanto, realizar uma abordagem da integração regional ancorada no seu desenvolvimento e seus efeitos.

This paper aims to examine the issue of infrastructure from the regional integration held in South America, with special attention to the IIRSA. It sought to determine the chronological framework of creation of the Initiative examining the institutional conformation as well as the development of integration axis in order to get to know the main aspects of the interrelationship between integration and infrastructure applied to the southern part of the American continent. The presentation of the integration axis aims to establish a new decision-making process based on open regionalism, political dialogue and physical interconnection, like energy, transport or telecommunications. Intends, therefore, to perform a regional integration approach anchored in the development and integration of the derived effects of this approach.
