Este estudo tem por escopo analisar o tratamento de vazios urbanos em conjuntos históricos, numa perspectiva comparada, a partir de dois casos semelhantes, um italiano e outro brasileiro. Foram escolhidas as cidades de Nápoles, na Itália e Salvador, no Brasil. A pesquisa inicia-se com o destaque dos principais aspectos históricos e a leitura morfológica de cada uma dessas cidades. Posteriormente, elas são analisadas à luz da teoria de Cesare Brandi sobre o trato de lacunas, transpondo-se as idéias deste autor para o campo da Arquitetura e Urbanismo. A seguir, discutem-se alternativas para o tratamento arquitetônico deste espaço. Ao final, conclui-se que intervenções inapropriadas podem descaracterizar os conjuntos históricos, comprometendo a condição artística das cidades. Portanto, para evitaristo, as novas intervenções devem ser cuidadosamente planejadas para que se harmonizem com o patrimônio histórico e cultural.
This study analyzes the design of urban voids in historic centers, with acomparative approach, initiating from two similar cases, one in Italy and the other in Brazil. Therefore, were chosen Naples and Salvador.The research starts with the emphasis of the most important historical aspects and the morphologic reading of each one of those cities. Later, they are analyzed in the light of Cesare's Brandi theories of lack management, transposing this author's ideas for the context of the Architecture and Urbanization. Next, the study discusses some possiblechoices for architectural design of those spaces. Finally, the conclusion is that inaccurate interventions can disqualify the historic centers, jeopardizing the artistic condition of the cities. Therefore, to avoid thisproblem, new inteventions should be carefully planned in order to reconcile themselfs with the historical and cultural heritage.
