Em 1907, foi fundado o Photo-Club Helios, por imigrantes alemães e descendentes reunidos no então denominado Turnerbund, a atual Sociedade de Ginástica Porto Alegre, 1867 – SOGIPA. O Photo-Club Helios existiu oficialmente até 1949, quando findou o período de interrupção de suas atividades, iniciado ainda em 1942, durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, sendo, após, sucedido pelo Departamento Fotográfico da SOGIPA, de 1949, e que mais tarde passou a chamar-se DECIFOTOS (Departamento Cine-Fotográfico da SOGIPA). Este estudo pioneiro apresenta parte da atuação desses grupos de fotógrafos amadores, a partir de pesquisa em fontes documentais do Acervo do Memorial da SOGIPA. O trabalho recupera as ações de gestão e produção cultural empreendidas sobre o Acervo e possibilita conhecer a trajetória daqueles entusiastas da fotografia, inseridos num ativo circuito da cultura visual da cidade e do mundo. Ao elucidar aspectos históricos e analisar as relações de sociabilidade a partir da memória e do patrimônio, a pesquisa contribui para a história, teoria e crítica da fotografia no Brasil.
In 1907 he founded the Photo-Club Helios, by German immigrants and descendants gathered in the so-called Turnerbund, the current Sociedade de Ginástica Porto Alegre, 1867 - SOGIPA. The Photo-Club Helios existed officially until 1949, when it ended the period of interruption of its activities, has started in 1942 during the Second World War and after, succeeded by the Departamento Fotográfico da SOGIPA, 1949, and who later went to be called DECIFOTOS (Departamento Cine-Fotográfico da SOGIPA). This pioneering study presents part of the work of these groups of amateur photographers, from research in documentary sources of the Collection of the Memorial SOGIPA. The work retrieves the actions of management and cultural production undertaken on the Collection and lets us know the history of those photography enthusiasts, inserted in an active circuit of the visual culture of the city and the world. By elucidating historical aspects and analyze the relations of sociability from memory and heritage, the research contributes to the history, theory and criticism of photography in Brazil.
