O trabalho enfoca as decorações pictóricas da casa senhorial da fazenda do Serro Formoso, fundada por volta de 1830, pelo Visconde Francisco Pereira de Macedo, no município de Lavras do Sul. Disserta sobre a vida do proprietário e de seus descendentes. Comenta sobre a organização e desenvolvimento da estância de criação de gado e sugere a data provável da finalização das obras da sede da propriedade, em 1858. Ressalta as reformas sofridas pela construção e as características formais e estéticas da caixa mural. Comenta sobre o sistema construtivo da edificação e sobre a organização da planta interior. E, a partir do Inventário realizado como tarefa inicial da investigação: identifica as técnicas de pintura usadas nas ornamentações dos forros e paredes dos ambientes interiores da moradia; versa sobre a iconografia dos arranjos decorativos; sobre o estado de conservação dos ornatos. Sinaliza para as relações de influências, semelhanças e diferenças com exemplares pictóricos que enfeitam as salas internas de outros edifícios erguidos na mesma época. Destaca que esses bens integrados à arquitetura, comuns nos centros urbanos, são praticamente inusitados nas casas/sedes do meio rural da região da campanha gaúcha.
This work highlights the pictoric decorations of the main house in the Serro Formoso farm, founded around 1830 by Viscount Francisco Pereira de Macedo, in the city of Lavras do Sul. It will discuss the owner and his descendants' lives. It talks about the organization and development in the cattle farm and suggests the probable date in which the renovations in the property were finished, in 1858. It emphasizes the reforms done in the building as well as the formal and aesthetic characteristics of the caixa mural. It comments on the constructive edification system and the organization of the interior plant. Also, from the inventory made as the initial task of the investigation: identifies the painting techniques used in ornamentations in the linings and walls of the home interior; discusses the iconography of the decorative arranges and the ornaments' state of conservation. It showcases the relationships of influences, similaritites and differences with pictoric examples which decorate the interiors of other buildings contructed in the same time period. It shows that these items, which are integrated in architecture, common in urban centers, are rarely ever seen in houses/buildings of the south of the country.
