Criada inicialmente como garota-propaganda de uma empresa de eletrodomésticos, Mafalda, a personagem de Quino, depois de ser rejeitada e guardada por dois anos, ganha a admiração do público leitor argentino e passa a circular em revistas e jornais de 1964 a 1973, período de forte repressão impretado pela Ditadura Militar Argentina, marcado por três golpes de estado – 1966, 1970 e 1971. A emergência da personagem dá-se nesse contexto político de regime de exceção, colocando em pauta, num movimento de resistência através da ironia, temas como democracia e direitos humanos sem interdição da censura. O presente trabalho visa à compreensão dos processos discursivos em funcionamento na ironia, considerando o papel da memória e da história e atentando, sobretudo, para dois funcionamentos do interdiscurso: o pré-construído e o discurso transverso. A reflexão desenvolve-se sobre um arquivo formado por seis tirinhas e um cartaz, cuja seleção obedeceu à relação do discurso da personagem com o Aparelho Repressivo de Estado (ALTHUSSER, 1983), representados nas figuras do policial e do militar, em consonância com o propósito da pesquisa.
Initially created as a poster girl for an appliance company, Mafalda, Quino's character, after being rejected and kept for two years, gains the admiration of the Argentine reading public and starts circulating in magazines and newspapers from 1964 to 1973, a period of strong repression by the Argentine Military Dictatorship, marked by three coups d'état - 1966, 1970 and 1971. The emergence of the character takes place in this political context of an exceptional regime, putting on the agenda, in a resistance movement through irony, themes as democracy and human rights without prohibiting censorship. The present work aims to understand the discursive processes at work in irony, considering the role of memory and history and paying attention, above all, to two functions of interdiscourses: the pre-constructed and the transversal discourse. The reflection is developed on an archive formed by six comic strips and a poster, whose selection followed the relation of the character's speech with the State Repressive Apparatus (ALTHUSSER, 1983), represented in the figures of the police and the military, in line with the research purpose.
