Esta dissertação visou investigar as tensões oriundas das articulações entre a racionalidade instrumental, dominante no modelo de sociedade mercadocêntrica e a racionalidade substantiva, considerada como afim à área artística, na perspectiva do corpo docente do Centro de Artes, da Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel). O levantamento teórico referente à racionalidade compreendeu os processos de racionalização, a racionalidade instrumental e a racionalidade substantiva. No que se refere à tensão no ambiente acadêmico, foram utilizadas abordagens que se dedicam à análise da relação entre o modelo de ensino superior formal e a área de artes. A pesquisa se consolidou através da abordagem qualitativa e a coleta de dados empíricos; realizada a partir da realização de 26 entrevistas com roteiros semiestruturados com professores da Unidade estudada. Pela análise dos dados levantados e o referencial teórico, constatou-se que a Unidade vivencia tensões internas e externas ligadas às articulações entre as racionalidades. Concluiu-se que, no âmbito interno, as tensões podem ser amenizadas pelo fomento de atividades ligadas à racionalidade substantiva e à implementação de atividades que incentivem o convívio interdisciplinar entre os docentes. Por fim, é apresentada uma proposta de intervenção para a criação de oficinas práticas com e para os professores do Centro de Artes.
This dissertation aimed to investigate the tensions arising from the articulations between the instrumental rationality, dominant in the market-centered society model and the substantive rationality, considered as akin to the artistic area, from the perspective of the faculty of the Center of Arts of the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). The theoretical survey on rationality comprised the processes of rationalization, instrumental rationality and substantive rationality. Regarding the tension in the academic environment, approaches were used to analyze the relationship between the formal higher education models and the arts. The research was consolidated through the qualitative approach and the collection of empirical data performed from the application of 26 semi-structured scripts with teachers of the unit studied. By analyzing the data collected and the theoretical framework, it was found that the Unit experiences internal and external tensions linked to the articulations between rationalities. It was concluded that, internally, tensions can be alleviated by fostering activities linked to substantive rationality and the implementation of activities that encourage interdisciplinary interaction among teachers. Finally, an intervention proposal is presented for the creation of practical workshops with and for the teachers of the Arts Center.
