Esta dissertação, vinculada à temática do futebol, abordou os processos de formação de jogadores em cinco clubes da cidade de Pelotas – RS. O estudo teve como objetivos mapear e descrever as propostas para as categorias de base destes clubes, bem como identificar e analisar a procedência, a rotatividade, a escolarização e as tendências de profissionalização e reconversão profissional desses jovens aspirantes a jogador. A metodologia utilizada foi a etnografia. Além disso, foram utilizados instrumentos comumente aplicados na netnografia (etnografia virtual). Diários de campo, entrevistas semiestruturadas, questionários, fontes imagéticas e análise de artefatos virtuais foram alguns dos instrumentos utilizados no estudo. A conclusão do estudo aponta que os clubes profissionais da cidade carecem de maiores planejamentos e investimentos na estrutura e na gestão de suas categorias de base. A ausência destes fatores estimula a rotatividade dos jovens por diferentes clubes, dentro e fora da cidade, e direciona os clubes a prática de uma “arquitetura” provisória de equipes. Também ficou evidenciado que entre os jogadores pesquisados existe uma relevante defasagem e evasão escolar. Há uma expressiva inserção dos jovens formados nos clubes da cidade no futebol profissional (16% da amostra) se comparada a outros contextos estudados, o que referenda o argumento da cidade ser um polo estadual na formação de jogadores. Apesar desta notoriedade, há um consenso entre os interlocutores sobre a necessidade de uma reconfiguração nas propostas formativas dos clubes, especialmente dos profissionais. Também parece ser necessária a criação de mecanismos de interferência estatal neste processo, mecanismos estes que estimulem o cumprimento de leis que resguardem minimamente o futuro destes jovens.

This dissertation, linked to the theme football, addressed the process of formation of players in five clubs from the city of Pelotas - RS. The study aimed to map and describe the proposals offered by the youth academies of these clubs, and identifies and analyzes the merits, also its turnovers, schooling, and trends of professionalization and also the retraining conversion of these rookie young players. The methodology used was ethnography. In addition to it, the instruments are used similarly in netnography (virtual ethnography). Field journals, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, image resources, virtual artifacts analysis were some of the instruments used in the study. The conclusion of the study is that the professional clubs of the city require further planning and investment in the structure and management of their youth academies. The absence of these factors stimulates the trade of young players between different clubs, within and outside the city, and it directs the clubs to do a provisory "architecture” of the teams. It was also found among the surveyed players that there is a significant schooling difference like truancy and lag between them. There is a significant amount of young players formed on the city clubs in professional football (16% of the sample), if compared to other contexts studied, which reinforces the city's argument in being a state pole in formation of young players. Despite this notoriousness, there is a consensus between the interlocutors about the need of a reconfiguration in the formative proposals of the clubs for the youth academies, and especially for the professionals. Also appears to be necessary to create state interference mechanisms in this process, mechanisms that encourage compliance with laws that minimally will make safe the future of these young people.
