Este trabalho está debruçado sobre o processo de tombamento do patrimônio edificado ocorrido na cidade de Baião, Estado do Pará, e seus possíveis desdobramentos políticos e administrativos impelidos ao poder público local. Neste espaço, investigamos no próprio processo em questão, clareamentos sobre os papeis desempenhados entre sociedade civil e o poder do Estado na preservação e proteção do patrimônio cultural, bem como, compreender a efetividade dos instrumentos legais de intervenção e gestão do espaço urbano, tais como a Constituição Federal, Estatuto da Cidade, Plano Diretor Municipal, Lei Orgânica Municipal. A pesquisa também consultou as memórias de seis baionenses, como forma de conhecer suas percepções acerca do lugar, bem como, validar através de seus depoimentos o processo de tombamento ocorrido. Desta forma, pautado na experiência vivida ao longo do processo de patrimonialização em Baião, o texto apresenta reflexões focadas na relação entre o projeto de intervenção urbanística em área patrimonializada e a necessidade de desenvolvimento de uma política de preservação do patrimônio edificado e sua área de entorno.
This work is based on the process of listing the built heritage that took place in the city of Baião, State of Pará (Brazil), and its possible political and administrative developments driven by the local government. In this space, it was investigated, in the process in question, clarifications on the roles played between civil society and the State power in the preservation and protection of cultural heritage, as well as understanding the effectiveness of legal instruments for intervention and management of urban space, such as the Federal Constitution, City Statute, Municipal Master Plan, Municipal Organic Law. The research also consulted the memories of six residents of Baião with a way of knowing their perceptions about the place, as well as, validating through their testimonies the tipping process that occurred. Thus, based on the experience lived through the process of heritage listing in Baião, the text presents reflections focused on the relationship between the urban intervention project in a heritage area and the need to develop a policy for the preservation of the built heritage and its surrounding area.
