Description

Green NPs were synthesized in 76% of cases from plant substrates, 10% from fungi and 9.5% from algae, and the metal of choice as reducing and stabilizing agent was gold. The cytotoxic effect of green Nps on the tumor was observed in 95% of the studies, and the most studied neoplastic cell lineage was hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) in 80% of the articles, followed by breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7) in 38%. Cytotoxicity at the molecular level was observed by the presence of apoptotic cells, increased intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and decreased anti-apoptotic enzymes. Conclusion: It can be concluded that green NPs are an effective alternative in cancer treatment.
