O objetivo desse trabalho é abordar a contribuição do folclore nas aulas de língua portuguesa do ensino fundamental em Araguaína, TO. Vamos abordar de forma ampla o folclore brasileiro, pensando na questão histórica, bem como enfatizar o termo conceitualmente. Pretendemos abordar a importância do folclore no ambiente escolar, pois acreditamos que é importante pensar que o folclore faz parte do cotidiano do aluno e, consequentemente, do cidadão; e por isso se torna indispensável que a escola trabalhe o assunto. Sobre o folclore, tem-se compreendido que tem sido pouco trabalhado em sala de aula e, algumas vezes, quando é trabalhado, deixa-se uma lacuna entre os atos folclóricos e o cotidiano das pessoas; em decorrência disto, vamos evidenciar a ligação real com estes atos e os hábitos das pessoas, extinguindo assim a ideia de que os estudos sobre folclore devem acontecer somente em datas comemorativas e específicas. Pretendemos dar ênfase ao fato de que o folclore não se restringe ao passado e, portanto, está presente no dia a dia. Foram realizadas entrevistas com acadêmicos do Curso de Letras, cujo resultado apresentamos ao final do trabalho, bem como uma proposta de atividade com material didático para trabalhar o tema na sala de aula.

The objective of this work is to address the contribution of folklore in the Portuguese language classes of primary education in Araguaína, TO. We will broadly approach Brazilian folklore thinking about the historical issue, as well as emphasize its concept. We intend to address this importance in the school environment, because we believe that it is important to think that folklore is part of the daily life of the student and, consequently, of the citizen, and that is why it becomes indispensable for the school to work on the subject. About folklore, it has been understood that the same has been little worked in the classroom, and sometimes, when one works, there is a gap between the folk acts and the daily life of the people, disconnecting it from everyday life, thus extinguishing the idea that studies on folklore should happen only on specific and commemorative dates. We intend to highlight the fact that folklore is not restricted to the past and therefore is present in the day to day. Interviews were also conducted with students of the Portuguese language and Literature Course, and the analysis of this material is presented at the end of our work. We have also proposed an activity for the classroom, using the didactical material available in most schools in Araguaína.
