O presente trabalho pretendeu entender os significados e implicações do Totalitarismo enquanto regime político. Para isso, investigamos os imbróglios causados pelo Nazi-Fascismo e pelo Socialismo Real durante o século XX, demonstrando as consequências em termos sociopolíticos nos países onde governos totalitários foram instituídos. A pesquisa está atrelada às perversidades do totalitarismo e, diante disso, os infortúnios de tais regimes foram explicados. Em contrapartida às visões totalitárias, as ideias e princípios vinculados ao pensamento liberal e democrático foram utilizados. Por meio da análise histórica atrelada a uma revisão na literatura que trata sobre esse tema, articulou-se um trabalho com o objetivo de compreendermos os impactos sociopolíticos do pensamento e da prática totalitária no século XX.

This study sought to understand the meanings and implications of Totalitarianism as a political regime. After understanding it, investigations about the imbroglios caused by Nazi- Fascism and Real Socialism during the twentieth century were made, demonstrating the consequences in socio-political terms in the countries where totalitarian governments were instituted. The research is linked to the perversities of totalitarianism and, in view of that, the misfortunes of such regimes have been explained. In contrast to totalitarian views, ideas and principles attached on liberal and democratic perspective were showed. Through a historical analysis and a review of the literature that deals with this theme, was articulated a work in order to understand the socio-political impacts of thought and totalitarian practice in the twentieth century.
