A presente dissertação objetiva contribuir para a discussão a respeito das relações entre a configuração espacial e segregação socioeconômica, frente aos novos conceitos de desenvolvimento. Através da Teoria da Sintaxe Espacial, são abordadas dimensões morfológicas do espaço urbano de Aracaju, com ênfase na transformação urbanística ocorrida no Bairro Coroa do Meio. A teoria sintática mostra-se como uma ferramenta para análise do espaço urbano, ao possibilitar que atributos relacionados à sua configuração morfológica sejam graficamente visualizados, proporcionando informações que revelam a lógica social da cidade. A intenção é mostrar como o espaço urbano interfere nos modos de convívio social do individuo e sua interagir com outras pessoas, e como sua inversão é uma afirmação verdadeira. Com os resultados destas interferências, chegou-se a resultados que demonstram os efeitos sociais esperados e os efeitos sociais conseguidos, por meio das intervenções arquitetônicas realizadas pelo projeto de Transformação Urbana executadas no Bairro Coroa do Meio. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

To present dissertation it aims at to contribute for the discussion regarding the relationships between the space configuration and socioeconomic segregation, front to the new development concepts. Through the Theory of the Space Syntax, morphologic dimensions of the urban space of Aracaju will be approached, with emphasis in the town planning transformation happened in the Neighborhood Crowns of the Middle. The syntactic theory is shown as a tool for analysis of the urban space, when making possible that attributes related to his/her morphologic configuration are visualized graphically, providing information that reveal the social logic of the city. The intention is display as the urban space interferes in the manners of the individual's social conviviality and yours to interact with other people, and as his/her inversion is a true statement. With the results of these interferences, we will arrive to results that demonstrate the expected social effects and the gotten social effects, through the architectural interventions accomplished by the project of Urban Transformation executed in the Neighborhood Crowns of the Middle.
