In this work, the application of a pigment of coffee extract to cotton was studied. Different dyeing processes were performed to define the best application conditions in terms of colour shade and intensity. The application of plasma treatment pre and post dyeing was tested to improve wet fastness properties. The dyed cotton exhibited good wash fastness, water fastness, acid perspiration fastness, alkaline perspiration fastness, and saliva fastness. It also showed grade 5 and 4/5 for dry and wet friction fastness, respectively. However, lightfastness is poor. This research expands the application of natural pigments and provides a new, eco-friendly approach to dyeing cotton materials.
