Description
This report results from the Supervised Teaching Practice carried out at Salesianosde Lisboa during the 2023/2024 academic year. Through an approach that combines theory, empirical research, and classroom practice, the study aimed to understand how Portuguese students perceive, recognize, and value national heritage, and how the History subject can contribute to that process. The theoretical framework focuses on the evolution of the concept of heritage, the challenges of patrimonialisation, and the potential of Heritage Education as a pedagogical tool. The empirical component included the application of questionnaires and interviews, which revealed, on the one hand, a general detachment of students from Portuguese historical and cultural heritage, and on the other, the importance of specific practices in fostering a more emotional, critical, and conscious relationship with heritage. Finally, the pedagogical intervention aimed to assess methodologies, both inside and outside the classroom, that could enhance student engagement with the topic under study.
