Software solutions are increasingly becoming essential supporters in the management of organizations. The growth in industry-specific vertical applications – software defined by requirements for a single market – integrating with horizontal components – software package designed to be used by many different kinds of organizations, like de Microsoft Office – are new factors affecting the software’s role. Digidelta is a company that develops software according to its client’s requests but specialized in the agricultural and veterinary software markets. The vertical software application PISA – Animal Health Computer Program – was a pioneer initiative from Digidelta and consists in an official information system for animal health that has been being used in Portugal since 1990 adopted by the Minister of Agriculture. On the one hand Digidelta detains all the Portuguese market being a monopolist but on the other hand the Portuguese market is already saturated, turning the growth opportunities for Digidelta very limited. In this sense, Digidelta wants to internationalize PISA with special preference by an emergent market like South Africa, Peru, Uruguay, Brazil or Argentina. This Integrative Work Project (IWT) consists on analyzing the South Africa market opportunities and market structure. Furthermore, based on Digidelta’s strengths, weaknesses and objectives it will be explain the optimal entry strategy as well as the investment, time and human resources that it will take to effectively penetrate the South African market. Through an effective partnership and a good training program Digidelta will be able to internationalize PISA at an estimated initial investment of € 11000.
