The research approaches the representations of native peoples in the Brazilian and Angolan Literature through a comparative analysis between authors and works of these territories. We reflect about the changes in the understanding of the concepts of representation and otherness, and on the adaptations of the mythological narratives through an interdisciplinary approach that privileges the relations between literary theory, anthropology, and the semiotics of images. From this selected material a corpus of works centered in the native universe is extracted so as to reflect on the way in which the modern discourse in charge of intellectuals of different cultural areas values or neglects the native element. We contextualize the works within the scope of the literary and cultural movements that integrated the autochthonous peoples at the center of their intellectual reflections, especially the Brazilian Romanticism and Modernism, and the movements of modernization of the African Literatures of Portuguese Language, specially in Angola. From this broad plane, we direct the research to the strict plan of the representation of the myths of Makunaíma and Nambalisita, whose analysis presents itself as the central point of the interface between literary criticism, ethnography, and cinematographic production. Next, we investigate the ways in which the tension between identity and alterity permeates the representation of the native character in contemporary works, especially in the authors Ruy Duarte de Carvalho (ANG) and Bernardo Carvalho (BR)

A pesquisa aborda as representações de povos nativos na literatura brasileira e angolana através de uma análise comparada entre autores e obras desses territórios. Refletimos sobre as mudanças no entendimento dos conceitos de representação e alteridade, e sobre as adaptações das narrativas mitológicas por meio de uma abordagem interdisciplinar que privilegia as relações entre a teoria literária, a antropologia, e a semiótica das imagens. Do material selecionado extrai-se um corpus de obras centradas no universo autóctone, de modo a refletir sobre a maneira como o discurso moderno a cargo de intelectuais de diferentes áreas culturais valoriza ou negligencia o elemento autóctone. Contextualizamos as obras no âmbito dos movimentos literários e culturais que integraram os povos autóctones no centro de suas reflexões intelectuais, especialmente o Romantismo e o Modernismo brasileiros, e os movimentos de modernização das literaturas africanas de língua portuguesa, especialmente em Angola. A partir deste plano lato direcionamos a pesquisa para o plano stricto da representação dos mitos de Makunaíma e Nambalisita, cuja análise apresenta-se como ponto central da interface entre a crítica literária, a etnografia e a produção cinematográfica. Em seguida investigamos as maneiras como a tensão entre identidade e alteridade permeia a representação da personagem nativa em obras contemporâneas, especialmente nos autores Ruy Duarte de Carvalho (ANG) e Bernardo Carvalho (BR)
