The beginning of the twentieth century was marked by a tendency to be dominated the by the theory of knowledge, since there is a succession of attempts to move away from the ontological problems within the philosophical debate. Like Neokantian propositions about the thing-in-itself, Neopositivism emerges as an international movement of disqualification of ontology. The special place occupied by Neopositivism in Philosophy results from its alleged position of absolute neutrality in the face of questions derived from the conception of the world. It is intended, therefore, to outline the ontological statute of knowledge in Lukács as an irreconcilable opposition to the irrationalist "spirit" of his time, which invades the debates around knowledge and science in the twentieth century.
