Improving the cost and resource management process in industrialization projects
| Resumo: | In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, companies must recognize the significance of effective project management. The ability to plan, adapt, and implement strategies is crucial for achieving business goals and staying competitive in the market. As a result, organizations are increasingly embracing project management methodologies and investing in the development of skills and tools to navigate market changes successfully. By prioritizing project effectiveness and fostering knowledge dissemination within the project management domain, businesses can position themselves for long-term success and effectively respond to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. This study aims to enhance cost and resource management in industrialization projects, focusing on improving the allocation and utilization of resources while minimizing costs. By developing strategies and methods to optimize resource usage, the goal is to ensure project objectives are achieved more efficiently. Ultimately, the aim is to enhance the overall profitability of industrial projects through effective cost and resource management. The study identified two major gaps in the project management process. Firstly, the existing cost management template was outdated, impractical, and complex. To address this, two measures were implemented: updating the template and creating a dashboard in Power BI for easier analysis. These improvements resulted in significant time savings and an annual monetary gain between 2,000-7,000€. Secondly, there was a lack of a comprehensive tool to provide an overview of all product-related activities. To address this issue, two proposals were developed and implemented: an activity calendar and a dashboard to highlight key information in the application. These enhancements brought numerous benefits to Bosch, including reduced task time and complexity, resulting in savings between 10,000- 20,000€ per year. Overall, the identified gaps were successfully addressed in the project management process, leading to significant improvements in cost management, resource allocation, and task visibility. |
