Resumo:This project is born with the need to measure the properties of friction and wear between combinations of materials through tests easy to perform and with high reliability. For this, the main goal it was build a economic prototype easy to use, which can perform these tests. These tests appear at different tribological aggression, thus causing unwanted anomalies in the surfaces of the materials to be tested, and it is necessary to study them. These attacks are analyzed by tribómeters with this equipment it is possible to perform tribological characterization of pairs of materials, allowing to obtain parameters such as friction coefficients and wear. To get reliable results the need to control variables test as applied normal load, speed of relative movement, and other relevant environmental conditions that influence the interaction of the surfaces in contact, is of high importance due to its strong influence on the results of these tests. In this paper we present the design, development, construction and validation of a tribometer able to control the variables mentioned above, and can thus obtain the friction coefficient of the interaction of various materials, as well as observe and study their behavior. Another objective is to implement the machine the ability to measure the wear of the material, and then try to relate it to their use in everyday life. The project was followed by the concern to try to simplify as much as possible the equipment for easy use and sought the use of existing components in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, in order to make it economically viable.
