The Paleoenvironmental Context of the Peştera cu Oase
| Resumo: | The complex research undertaken at the Pe ş tera cu Oase was triggered by the discovery of the oldest directly dated, substantial modern human remains and by the legitimate hopes that the deposits might yield an archeological context or at least archeological elements. Given the richness of the paleontological deposit and the inevitable complications associated with the evolution of an extensive cave system, a large array of investigation methods was deployed, some of them targeting cave sectors beyond the Oase sector sensu strictu . Although the initial goal of fi nding more archeological elements was not achieved, the Pe ş tera cu Oase team managed to gather a considerable amount of informative data concerning both the genesis of the cave system and its paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic context. |
