Industry 4.0 and supply chain resilience : a case study of an aeronautical company
| Resumo: | This master’s degree final work intends to focus on the effect of Industry 4.0 technologies on Supply Chain Resilience (SCRES), specifically in the context of the aviation industry. This choice is justified by the fact that there is literature that covers SCRES in the manufacturing context, that calls for further explorations into the effects of Industry 4.0 on SCRES in complex scenarios. The literature review aims to explore the impact that Industry 4.0 has on the key factors of SCRES and what are the main obstacles for Supply Chains in the aviation industry, justifying its use as a complex scenario. As such, the main aim of the research is to answer the following question “How does Industry 4.0 help improve Supply Chain Resilience?.” To be able to achieve this goal, semi-structured interviews were conducted with knowledgeable individuals who are directly involved in different stages of the supply chain of an aeronautics company. The results of these interviews helped confirm that Industry 4.0 has beneficial effects on SCRES. However, they also highlight the difficulties of adopting these technologies in the aeronautical industry. |
