O grooming é um comportamento premeditado que tem como finalidade assegurar a confiança de crianças ou jovens para que, posteriormente, o ofensor possa desenvolver condutas sexuais com estes, sem que a situação seja revelada aos pais e aos cuidadores. Mediante o uso da internet (redes sociais e chats) muitos ofensores escolhem e atuam criando falsos perfis e através de conversações online encetam este processo de aliciamento de crianças e jovens. Assim, focados no problema do grooming online elaborámos um estudo que tem como objetivo geral apurar qual o conhecimento dos pais sobre este fenómeno. Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo de carácter exploratório e descritivo em que participaram 560 pais que a seu cargo tinham crianças e jovens em idade escolar, designadamente entre os 6 e os 17 anos. A recolha de dados foi feita através de um inquérito por questionário, disponibilizado online. Quanto aos resultados, obteve-se uma estimativa do nível de (des)conhecimento sobre o fenómeno pela população inquirida, em que cerca de 48% da população inquirida afirmou desconhecer o termo grooming online. Após definir-se o fenómeno cerca de 97% dos participantes consideraram-no muito grave. Relativamente às medidas adotadas para prevenção deste crime, cerca de 52% da amostra refere falar com os filhos sobre os perigos online, tal como o grooming, e tomar precauções de forma a diminuir a vulnerabilidade das crianças. Quanto à realização de denúncias de crimes virtuais 89.1% dos participantes afirmaram saber onde devem ser efetuadas. O estudo pretende contribuir para uma maior consciencialização dos perigos associados à internet, envolvendo os pais e cuidadores na prevenção de situações de vitimização das crianças e adolescentes.
Grooming it’s a premeditated behavior intended to ensure the trust of children or young people so that the offender can subsequently develop sexual behaviors with them, without revealing the situation to parents and caregivers. Using the internet (social networks and chats) many offenders choose and act by creating false profiles and through online conversations initiate this process of grooming children and young people. So, focused on the problem of online grooming, we elaborated a study that has as general objective to ascertain parent’s knowledge about this phenomenon. This is an exploratory and descriptive quantitative study, involving 560 parents who had kids and young people on school age, particularly between 6 and 17 years. Data collection was done through a questionnaire survey, available online. Regarding the results, an estimate was made of the level of knowledge about the phenomenon by the sample, in which about 48% of the surveyed population stated that they did not know the term online grooming. After defining the phenomenon, about 97% of the participants considered it very serious. Regarding measures taken to prevent this crime, about 52% of the sample refers to talk with their kids about all online dangers, such as grooming, and taking precautions to reduce children's vulnerability. Regarding the accomplishment of complaints of virtual crimes 89.1% of the participants affirmed knowing where they should be carried out. The study aims to contribute to a greater awareness of the dangers associated with the internet, involving parents and caregivers in the prevention of situations of victimization of children and adolescents.
