Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a forma como a componente cultural inerente à língua inglesa é lecionada aos alunos do primeiro ciclo do ensino básico nas salas de aula portuguesas, no âmbito da aprendizagem da atividade extra curricular de inglês. Numa primeira fase, analisar-se-á a importância do ensino precoce das línguas e a sua influência na aprendizagem de diferentes culturas. Em seguida, centrar-nos-emos no enquadramento teórico e normativo que rege o ensino do inglês em Portugal. Numa terceira fase, explorar-se-á o conceito de cultura, assim como refletir-se-á sobre temas como a identidade cultural, o multiculturalismo e a cultura na sala de aula. Seguidamente, far-se-á um estudo de caso, designadamente de conteúdo e método sobre como a cultura inglesa é ensinada aos alunos. Proceder-se-á, finalmente, à análise dos resultados obtidos em diferentes questionários de índole cultural colocados quer a docentes quer a discentes.

This work aims to study the way the cultural component of the English language is taught to students in primary school Portuguese classrooms. This study is based on the English language taught as an extracurricular activity. Initially, the importance of early language learning and its influence in the learning of different cultures will be analysed. Then, attention will be focused on the theoretical and normative alignment which rules the English language education in Portugal. In a third stage, the concept of culture will be explored, as well as central themes such as cultural identity, multiculturalism and culture at the classroom. After that, a case study will be presented, namely concerning the way content and method of the English culture are taught to students. Finally, the results obtained in different questionnaires of cultural basis, answered both by teachers and students, will be analysed.
