This is a theoretical and methodological framework on the meaning of free time, starting from the interfaces, challenges and dilemmas with the world of work in contemporary issues. The initial focus concerns changes from the restructuring of production, altering the social and interpersonal relationships, leading to new ways to experience social reality, especially in the dimension of time and which can be considered free time. It is a theoretical-methodological study on the significance/reframing of free time, starting from the interfaces with the world of work in contemporary society. The initial focus is on changes from the productive restructuring, which alter the group and interpersonal relationships, leading to new ways to experience social reality, especially in the dimension of time, and which can be identified as being free time. This research aims to establish a perspective of analysis and interpretation of qualitative epistemology using an approach that follows the grounded theory in which search in historical, sociological and psychological data, the theoretical understanding necessary to understand a possible change towards the centrality of work-related psychosocial processes, the emergence of new modes of production of social subjectivity regarding the meanings of free time in modern society. Empirical work on a larger scale was based on interviews with professionals, young people looking their first job and retired people. Found in the development of focal groups (young and old) a supplementary unfolding in mapping changes in the field of practices and values that define new "areas of meaning" of the meanings of free time for the investigated samples, as well as understand that meaning can be defined and redefined through social interaction.

Trata-se de um estudo te?rico-metodol?gico sobre a significa??o/ressignifica??o do tempo livre, partindo das interfaces com o mundo do trabalho na contemporaneidade. O foco inicial incide sobre mudan?as provenientes da reestrutura??o produtiva, que alteram as rela??es grupais e interpessoais, conduzindo a novos modos de experimentar a realidade social, especialmente na dimens?o do tempo, e do que pode ser considerado tempo livre. A presente investiga??o visa estabelecer uma perspectiva de an?lise e interpreta??o de epistemologia qualitativa usando uma abordagem que segue a teoria fundamentada, a qual busca em dados hist?ricos, sociol?gicos e psicol?gicos, o entendimento te?rico necess?rio para compreender uma poss?vel altera??o no sentido da centralidade dos processos psicossociais ligados ao trabalho, para a emerg?ncia de novos modos de produ??o da subjetividade social no que se refere aos significados do tempo livre na sociedade moderna. Um trabalho emp?rico de maior alcance baseou-se em entrevistas com profissionais liberais, jovens em busca do primeiro emprego e pessoas aposentadas. Encontramos no desenvolvimento de grupos focais (jovens e idosos) um desdobramento complementar no mapeamento de altera??es no campo das pr?ticas e valores que definem novas ?zonas de sentido? acerca dos significados de tempo livre para as amostras pesquisadas, assim como tamb?m, entender que esse significado poder? ser definido e redefinido atrav?s da intera??o social.
