Portugal is one of the European countries with more women attending and completing higher education studies. Research on the different social roles that determine the role of each individual in society, shows a disparity in the treatment of men and women, in access to qualified positions and wages, (Barroso, Nico e Rodrigues, 2011). Women also suffer more from discrimination and harassment at work, sexual abuse and domestic violence (Tavares, 2010). The socio-educational effort has not been enough to promote respect for gender identity and the fight against stereotypes and inequality. In this sense, art and activism constitute another possibility to challenge changes and power relations. Art provides spaces for the creation of non-normative visual narratives, unveiling structures of oppression and providing individual explorations on the assumption of equality and freedom. In this text, the illustration is called as a reflection for International Women's Day. The students/authors of the illustrations talked about their positioning and artistic thinking, about gender representations in their life contexts, appealing to their memory trajectories, their cultural roots, associating them with gender representations. This process allowed deconstructing dominant ideological discourses, mobilizing dialectical learning that gave rise to the animation that we present here.
Portugal é um dos países europeus com mais mulheres a frequentar e a concluir estudos no Ensino Superior. A investigação sobre os diferentes papéis sociais, que determinam a função de cada indivíduo na sociedade, mostra uma disparidade no tratamento entre homens e mulheres, no acesso a cargos qualificados e remunerações salariais (Barroso, Nico e Rodrigues, 2011). São, também, as mulheres que mais sofrem de discriminação e assédio no trabalho, abuso sexual, violência doméstica e no namoro (Tavares, 2010). O esforço socioeducativo, não tem sido suficiente para promover o respeito pela identidade de género, o combate ao estereótipo e à desigualdade de oportunidades. Neste sentido, arte e ativismo constituem-se como mais uma possibilidade de desafiar as mudanças e relações de poder. A arte proporciona espaços de criação de narrativas visuais, não normativas, desocultando estruturas de opressão e proporcionando explorações individuais no pressuposto da igualdade e liberdade. Neste texto, a ilustração é convocada como reflexão para o Dia Internacional da Mulher. Os estudantes/autores das ilustrações, dialogaram sobre o seu posicionamento e pensamento artístico, sobre as representações de género nos seus contextos de vida, apelando às suas trajetórias de memória, às suas raízes culturais, associando-as às representações de género impregnadas no tecido social. Este processo, permitiu desconstruir discursos ideológicos dominantes, mobilizar aprendizagens dialéticas que originaram a animação que aqui apresentamos.
