By now, the divorce is a part of our daily lives. The divorce between people of different nationalities grows with the crescent internalization. It is possible, then, that this understudied subject shall be part of someone’s work in the future. As such, this article has the goal of analysing the texts involved in the processes of divorce in the United Kingdom (England and Wales) and in Portugal, and reflects upon some issues with the translation of not only these texts but those with similar purposes.
O divórcio está cada vez mais presente no dia a dia, e, com a crescente internacionalização, está igualmente presente o divórcio entre casais de diferentes nacionalidade. Assim, é inteiramente possível que este tema seja futuramente objeto de trabalho. Como tal, o presente artigo propõe-se a analisar as diferenças entre o divórcio no Reino Unido (Inglaterra e País de Gales) e em Portugal, e a apresentar algumas considerações importantes a ter conta aquando da tradução não só destes textos mas de todos os textos de caráter jurídico cujo público-alvo seja o cidadão comum.
