In the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM), Portuguese as a Non-Native Language (PLNM)has assumed a fundamental role in the integration of migrants. Over the last few decades, thenumber of retired foreigners temporarily residing in the territory and economic immigrants livingpermanently in the RAM has increased, especially in Funchal, but also in North Cost, like PortoMoniz. The situation has forced the authorities to think about the importance of the PLNM forintegration and reception. The information is systematized, giving an account of PLNM courses.In the public institutions of RAM, particularly on the island of Madeira, the PLNM is present inseveral formal and non-formal institutions, in a diversity of training courses. Some reflections aredeveloped around certain critical areas related to the learning of the Portuguese language byspeakers who do not have it as their mother tongue, contemplating, in particular, areas such asPhonetics and Pragmatics because they are assumed, among others, as crucial. However, theycannot be exclusive, defending, especially from Pragmatics, a transdisciplinary vision. Phoneticsand Pragmatics are important to learn to speak Portuguese and contribute to the integration ofmigrants was highlighted. A reflection is developed on the subject pointing to some challenges.
Na Região Autónoma da Madeira (RAM), o Português Língua Não Materna (PLNM) tem assumidoum papel fundamental na integração de migrantes. Ao longo das últimas décadas, foi aumentandoo número de estrangeiros aposentados a residirem temporariamente no território e de imigranteseconómicos a viverem permanentemente na RAM, sobretudo no Funchal, mas também na CostaNorte, no Porto Moniz. A situação tem obrigado as autoridades a pensar na importância do PLNMpara a integração, valorizando o acolhimento. Sistematiza-se informação, dando conta de cursos dePLNM. Nas instituições públicas da RAM, em particular na ilha da Madeira, o PLNM é transversal,estando presente em diversas instituições formais e não formais, numa diversidade de cursos deformação. Consideram-se duas áreas críticas relacionadas com a aprendizagem da língua portuguesapor parte de falantes que não a têm como língua materna, contemplando, nomeadamente, aFonética e a Pragmática porque se assumem, entre outras, como cruciais. No entanto, não podemser exclusivas, defendendo-se, sobretudo a partir da Pragmática, uma visão transdisciplinar. AFonética e a Pragmática contribuem para aprender a falar português e, por conseguinte, para aintegração dos migrantes. Desenvolve-se uma reflexão sobre o assunto apontando para algunsdesafios.
