[Excerpt] Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), potentially immune-privileged cells, have been isolated from bone marrow, umbilical cord, e.g. umbilical vein and Wharton’s Jelly, and from amniotic fluid. Amniotic fluid cells were used for prenatal diagnosis since 1950.
