The main purpose of this paper is to identify the core problems of art education nowadays. With this intention, 25 experts in the field of arts education were interviewed to know their opinion about the key issues and challenges of arts education in the near future. In order to categorize the reflections collected, three relevant studies about future strategies for arts education were analyzed, looking for the key measures suggested therein and the main categories used. Finally, the essay ends with brief considerations about art education in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
O presente ensaio tem como principal propósito identificar os problemas centrais da educação artística na atualidade. Com esse intuito, entrevistaram-se 25 especialistas da área da educação artística para saber a sua opinião sobre os principais problemas e desafios a ultrapassar a curto e médio prazo. De modo a categorizar as reflexões recolhidas, analisaram-se três estudos relevantes realizados em pleno século XXI sobre estratégias de futuro para a educação artística, procurando as principais medidas aí sugeridas, bem como as principais categorias utilizadas. Finalmente, termina-se o ensaio com breves considerações sobre a educação artística na Região Autónoma da Madeira, apresentando os seus pontos fortes e sugerindo algumas oportunidades de melhoria de acordo com as medidas propostas nos estudos e nas opiniões realizadas pelos especialistas entrevistados.
