Existe associação entre a função de membros superiores e qualidade de vida na insuficiência cardíaca?

Introduction: Heart failure (HF) significantly compromises patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and functional capacity. Objective: to analyze the association between upper limb (UL) function and HRQoL in patients with HF. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted with 26 patients with HF. The 6-minute Pegboard and Ring Test (6MPBRT), the Grocery Shelving Task (GST) and the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) were used. Results: Worse scores in the total sum and emotional dimension of MLHFQ were observed in the individuals with worse GST, as well as worse scores in the physical dimension in the individuals with worse 6MPBRT (P≤0.05). Only the GST showed reasonable and statistically significant correlations with all MLHFQ scores (r≥0.39; P≤0.05). Conclusion: Reasonable correlations were obtained between UL function by the TA6 and GST and HRQoL. A stronger association seems to exist between UL function as assessed by the GST when compared to the TA6.

Introdução: A insuficiência cardíaca (IC) compromete significantemente a qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde (QVRS) e capacidade funcional dos indivíduos. Objetivo: Analisar a associação entre a função dos membros superiores (MMSS) e QVRS em pacientes com IC. Métodos: Estudo transversal com 26 indivíduos com IC. Aplicaram-se os Teste da Argola de 6 minutos (TA6), Grocery Shelving Task (GST) e questionário Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ). Resultados: Observou-se pior pontuação total e na dimensão emocional do MLHFQ nos indivíduos com pior GST e pior pontuação na dimensão física nos indivíduos com pior TA6 (P≤0,05). Somente o GST se correlacionou de forma razoável e estatisticamente significante com todas as pontuações do MLHFQ (r≥0,39; P≤0,05). Conclusão: Observaram-se correlações razoáveis entre a função dos MMSS pelo TA6 e pelo GST e a QVRS. O GST parece ter uma melhor associação com a função de MMSS comparado ao TA6.
