Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:At the beginning of the XVII century the Spanish Crown tried to build up a tobacco monopoly with Cartagena of the Indies as the centre of operations and the Sevillian Diego Pinelo as its main representative. However, this attempt was unsuccessful as it did not get continuity. One century later, around 1717, the city of Havana was erected as a stable redistributing harbour responsible of controlling the shipment of tobacco to the capital. Along this assay we contextualize both realities and analyse their viability.
