Resumo:When one considers one's relationship with one's compatriots one is already part of a nation. The community is the sum of persons who happen to think different things about themselves in a particular way. If one wants to examine distributive justice, which involve each person's attitudes to his or her community, in the various relationships and degrees which can be distinguished, from friendship or compassion for one's more unfortunate countrymen to social solidarity, class loyalty or national pride, then it seems a good idea to think about how a weak conception of personal identity comes to be supplemented by the sense of belonging to a community.
