Impeachment and the films: the overthrow of Dilma Rousseff in three female narratives
| Resumo: | This publication discusses the narrative articulations and recording strategies of three documentaries made by Brazilian directors in their films about Dilma Rousseff's impeachment: The Coup d’Etat (Paula Fabiana, 2016), The Process (Maria Augusta Ramos, 2018), and Alvorada (Anna Muylaert and Lô Politi, 2020), We will analyze how these films portray the impeachment process of the first female president of Brazil, appropriating images of the historical world in three distinct spaces - the streets, the parliament, and the presidential residence - anchored in theirs experiences and noninterventional observations to build analytical assertions about this traumatic fact in the contemporary history of Brazil. |
