Resumo:As a consequence of the French invasions in Portugal, the Portuguese court moves to Brazil and this colony develops very fast. This growth has made it a favorite destination for Portuguese emigration and, after the return of the king to Portugal, Brazil became an independent country. The newly created Brazilian empire remained attractive for thousands of Portuguese, many of whom would later return to their homeland with a favorable financial situation. Under these circumstances was Manoel Pinto when he returned to Portugal and started a family in Castelo de Paiva. However, unexpected events made of him a fugitive and took him back to Brazil, where a new episode set an unlikely path to his situation and to the outcome.
