Summary:In this article we seek to account for the recurrence of the literary motif of the haunted house in selected short stories by Luísa Costa Gomes, by connecting it with a revisionist thematization of the Gothic tradition and with the key motifs it conventionally encompasses: fantastic digression, phobic estrangement, domestic horror, desire and death.
