Avaliação do Letramento Acadêmico de Ingressantes do Curso de Recursos Humanos

Resumo:Objective of this study was to analyze literacy, specifi cally reading and comprehension, of beginner students from Human Resources degree at Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (University of Extreme Southern of Santa Catarina). The revised theoretical was composed by: literacy – Soares (2001) and Kleiman (1995); academic literacy – Fischer (2008) and Oliveira (2009). It is a qualitative and descriptive research. The corpus was 26 students of Human Resources degree. Activities were prepared and applied in order to evaluate students’ reading competences. Those activities were based on the Portuguese table of contents for 3rd year of high school, according to Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais (National Institute for Educational Studies and Researches). This table of contents is composed of topics that describe what students’ skills should be assessed by a teacher. The results showed that, despite there are not criteria which defi ne an individual as literate or illiterate, students answered correctly 70% of the questions whose focus was reading and comprehension.
