STS educators in teaching publications in Brazil: a social network analysis

Resumo:This paper presents the results of an investigation conducted alongside the authors cited in Glen Aikenhead’s article, entitled “STS education: A rose by any other name” that sought to identify which authors are quoted in STS education publications in Brazil. We intend to contribute to define a State of the Art research in Science Education. The authors identified in this article were cataloged and modeled within a network of quotations. Results revealed that the authors that have been recognized as international references on STS education, in recent decades, are also present in the studies published in Brazil. However, despite a significant representation in article referencing, we realize that there is significant repetition of quotation sources, as well as of the author’s works that are quoted.
