Luis Weckmann Muñoz: Intellectual Biography of the First Mexican Medievalist, 1923-1955

Summary:Based on the postulates of Francois Dosse, this article aims to analyze the links between the academic and diplomatic training of the medievalist Luis Weckmann and the interpretation he made of the links between the Middle Ages and the conquest of the New World. Consequently, the most significant elements of his formation will be studied, the ideas that influenced his intellectual production, such as the proposals of Ernst Kantorowicz and Charles Verlinden, and his experience in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Organization.
