| Resumo: | This article outlines what performance is in the arts and discusses the cross-disciplinary nature of these concepts in audiovisual and multimedia contexts. To achieve this goal, it examines the evolution of multimedia and audiovisual performance, multimedia from various perspectives, and suggests categorising the different aspects, notably the definition of fixed or dynamic systems. It is also argued that multimedia performance is not exclusive to interactive systems and that performance can exist with fixed or autonomous systems. In summary, this article outlines the trajectory of a practice that has become increasingly common and widespread to facilitate understanding and study of it. |
