Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:Micoteca da Universidade do Minho (MUM) was founded in 1996 and throughout its years managed to evolve and adapt to the challenges ahead. The main objective of MUM is to maintain and provide quality and authentic fungal strains for biotechnological and life sciences research as well as acting as a centre for knowledge, information and training in the field of mycology. It has implemented since 2011 a Quality Management System based on the ISO 9001 standard. The scope of the certification is focused on the deposit, preservation and supply of filamentous fungal well characterised strains. In the year that celebrates 25 years of activity it has achieved several landmarks such as being the driving force for University of Minho host the statutory seat of the pan- European microbial resource research infrastructure (MIRRI) and the coordination of the Portuguese microBiological Resource Centre Network (Pt-mBRCN)/MIRRI-PT as Portuguese node for MIRRI. To celebrate the quarter of century, MUM will launch a new image including logotype and website. In addition, MUM was funded to be the Portuguese authority for deposit of microorganisms for the purposes of patent procedures under the Budapest Treaty. It has currently in its e-catalogue over 1000 strains and as a dynamic collection has widened its holdings according to national and international collaborations and demands. Besides having a strong presence in food mycology field throughout the years has widened its collection to environmental and clinical isolates. With the premise of continual improvement of quality in the services several offer by MUM and without losing its vision A world in which fungal biodiversity is preserved and available for all the major key-performance indicators of this collection, including some success stories, will be presented and discussed.
