Resumo:This abstract shows the quantum optics activities at the Micro Nano Fabrication Laboratory (MNFabLab) at the Center for MicroElectroMechanical Systems (CMEMS) of the University of Minho (UMinho). In the MNFabLab operation at the atomic level is done with Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) system, which offers both thermal and plasma options for depositing oxides and nitrides materials, essential for quantum optics applications [1]. The MNFabLab is already equipped with quantum optics apparatus to explore real-world applications of quantum physics, including quantum cryptography, quantum optics processor and quantum-based sensing. The setup uses a non-classical light source for single photon generated inside a nonlinear type-I BBO crystal. The photons in the pair are time-energy entangled. The setup instrument allows students and researchers to investigate the quantum properties of light first-hand in an open and accessible environment. Moreover, MNFabLab established a new pilot line for quantum optics and is working in three topics: Quantum-based sensing: MNFabLab already micro fabricated Optically Pumped Magnetometers (OPMs) [2, 3]. Quantum photonics processor: The main idea consists of an optical chip that receives light from sources that produce light states which are used as photonic qubit states. An interferometer entangles the photonic qubits on a processing chip, and the computation is read out by a series of detectors. Quantum encrypted communications: MNFabLab is developing a micro-encryption Photonics Integrated Circuit (PIC) system that secures data transmitted over fiber optics between communication and data centers.
