Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:This research assesses the complexity of the rare phenomenon of the hot hand in the NBA. To explore this, data from NBA games from the 2003-04 season to 2022-23 has been obtained. Additionally, data from WNBA games has been scrapped from the WNBA official website. Hot hand occurrences in these games have been identified using an equation from previous literature. Notable temporal asymmetries have been discerned across the four main quarters of an NBA game. Aligning with previous studies on the home-advantage effect, an advantage for NBA teams playing home has been identified within the scope of this phenomenon.
