Nature-based solutions in the Voluntary Carbon Market: a business model analysis of REDD+ projects
| Resumo: | The Voluntary Carbon Market is increasingly recognized as a key market-based mechanism for addressing climate change, enabling a wide range of climate solutions to be monetized through carbon credits. The research focuses on the REDD+ business model, analyzing its core components through the Social Business Model Canvas, supported by expert interviews and market reports. Building upon the identified strengths and weaknesses, the study proposes a set of strategic recommendations for business model innovation and optimization. Findings suggest that REDD+ project developers should pursue vertical integration and diversify revenue streams. Additionally, expanding access to the retail segment could unlock market growth. |
