Hayden White’s Modernist Events

Resumo:Hayden White’s definition of modernist events constitutes a challenge to historical representation, and in particular to twentieth-century historiography. In this short essay, we will try to follow White’s analysis, identify its shortcomings and propose a way forward, a set of directions through which this potentially decisive concept can be deployed by modern historiography.
