Digitalização de um centro de investigação clínica : desenho de um plano estratégico trabalho de projeto
| Resumo: | This project was developed within the scope of the Clinical Research Management Master. Starting with one of the difficulties faced by the Hospital da Luz Learning Health Research Center, the multiplicity of tasks performed manually by the clinical trials coordination team, research on the existing management softwares was carried out – Clinical Trials Management Systems. This type of digital tool has the potential to alleviate these tasks by automating and combining them into a single platform. The goal was to improve the research center’s efficiency, to promote patient’s safety and data quality. A strategic plan was carried out to serve as a guide through the research, analysis and decision to implement this software tool. The plan was to define the main research center's difficulties, to decide the software's requirements and to find the available solutions on the market. This search was made through inquiries to several research centers and trough software suppliers’ presentations. Selection criteria were defined for the final decision and a hypothetical implementation of the chosen tool. This research and planning began with the idea of purchasing software, but the conclusion was that it was easier to develop it in-house. The tool could be developed by the IT department thus allowing a controlled budget tailored to the research centers needs while controlling every step of the process. Better efficiency in managing a research center is only one of the benefits of the existing digital tools. Some were developed to increase recruitment rates or even patient retention in clinical trials, and there are many more opportunities to explore in the research center digital future. |
