In order to have a better understanding of this phenomena, we developed a model to test the impact of social media overuse on youth psychological well-being. This research was conducted in Damascus, Syria. We collected 406 responses from college students in order to test the model hypothesis. The results indicated that social media overuse and FoMO will strongly lead to fatigue which will later result into sleeping problems, Low self-esteem, and depression among youth. However, gender differences play a significant role as a moderator factor between social media fatigue and the outcomes, the impact was indicated on depression and low self-esteem, with a high percentage of females compared to males. |
