A Safety and quality of nursing care: literature review
| Resumo: | Introduction Security is a fundamental principle of the provided care and requires a complex system of synergies and a broad range of actions to improve quality. It is undeniable that the occurrence of mistakes create a constant concern for professionals, making it essential to promote a culture of safety. It is within this context that the challenge of understanding this phenomenon , promoting reflection on the occurrence of unsafe behaviors. Objective We intend with this review of the literature , understanding the determinants of the user safety culture that interfere with quality of care in the context of nursing practice. Methods We conducted a search in EBSCO, PubMed , SciELO , RCAAP of studies published between January 2010 and December 2015, in Portuguese and English languages. The studies were evaluated according to previously established inclusion criteria. Two reviewers assessed the quality of studies to include using the grid for critical evaluation of a prospective , randomized and controlled. The studies answer the question – What are the factors that interfere with the patient's safety culture within the context of nursing practice Results Through research in databases emerged 309 articles from the descriptors "Patient Safety " , " Safety Culture" , " Nursing " , " Quality of Care " . They selected 11 articles that answered the research question " What are the factors that interfere with the patient's safety culture within the context of nursing practice ?", emerging 3 themes: patient safety - a quality of care component , the problem of mistake and the importance of a safety culture in organizations. Conclusions This study shows that the occurrence of mistakes is a threat to quality of care and safety of patients, however, the awareness of the risks and the implementation of measures for the development of a safety culture contribute to reducing the frequency and severity of mistakes in health institutions. |
